Group Management Skills and Technology for Tour Guides

I hope you enjoyed the first week of tour guiding. There has been some great work coming in and the students who took part in the roleplays on Friday did an exceptional job of demonstrating leadership styles and interpersonal skills.

Starting in class on Monday July 28th, we will continue with our theme of leadership, but with a more hands on approach.  We will look at some strategies for managing groups,  then you will be taken on a guided walking tour of the University Campus (Monday July 28th meeting place 9.00am outside H Block automatic doors - good shoes and warm clothing essential)

During the week to follow, we will look at practical uses of technology available for tour guides.

In class, we will look at map reading  skills, how a video camera works, and using  PA equipment.

After each session, during facilitation you need to write a few paragraphs on how you might use these skills and technology as a tour guide.

It is important to attend the practical sessions so that you can get some tips on how (and where) you might use this technology.

Later in the week, there will be a session on the use of two way radios.

    Hi Sue

I am presuming that this comment was for Nicky – I will pass it onto her.
