Great work on the technology sessions last week! Using maps, cameras, microphones and radios is just part of everyday life for a guide. Now you have gained some valuable skills that you will certainly put to use in the future.
Another extremely useful skill as a tour guide or indeed any valuable employee in tourism, is for a person to have the confidence and ability to stand up in front of a group of people and speak.
With a combination of good knowledge of the topic, some preparation and a sense of humour, any person can successfully come foward and tell guests (be they potential or exisiting) about a place, activity or experience.
This week we will look at what makes an excellent presenter and how to prepare a good presentation.
Using some of the skills (microphones) we learned last week, each one of us will have the opportunity to make a presentation to the class about your home town, province or country!
